 Our full-day field trips involve a visit to the Biomes center paired with a visit to one of three other nearby sites. All extended field trips are for grades 1 - 8. You will need to plan four hours, not including travel time to and from school. This will allow 1 1/2 hours at each location, plus half-an-hour for both lunch and travel between sites. Large groups of 50-100 students may divide in half, each spending time at one site in the morning, and the other site after lunch. Smaller groups of 15-50 students, may stay together visiting one site in the morning and the other after lunch. Lunches may be eaten at the non-Biomes site. These field trips are available in the fall and the spring. Includes a visit to Biomes and a visit to Fort Getty in Jamestown for tidepooling and beach combing. A visit to Biomes and a visit to the Gilbert Stuart museum where students can learn about this 18th century portrait painter who painted George Washington’s famous portrait. They will also see and learn about his historic birthplace, home to the first snuff mill in America. $8.50 per student for the Biomes portion.
