Biomes Center Field Trips
For the Ultimate Educational Experience...
Come to us and see over 100 different species of locally-collected marine life in over 60 different exhibits.
Your class will learn gallons of information in our twelve different learning stations covering topics such as adaptations, habitats, and tropical strays.
They will also get their hands wet in our four petting stations featuring tidepool animals, eels, horseshoe crabs, and sharks!
All school visits to us are private. You will have our facility to yourselves.
One Hour Visits
For PreK and K, as well as Scouts, Mom’s Clubs, and Daycare Centers
Our biologist will lead your group through a one hour tour of our facility with a focus on our hands on exhibits followed by a live animal demonstration.
$6.50/student, $3.25/adult $150 minimum charge

Two Hour Field trip
For Grades 1 - 12
Your students will work in teams as they take turns visiting our twelve learning stations including our four hands-on exhibits. Set up in a “scavenger hunt” style format, students will find the answers to grade appropriate questions about the animals in each station, followed by a live animal demonstration at the end.
$8.50/student, $4.25/adult $300 minimum charge
60 student maximum
*This program may also be adapted to a one and a half hour visit for any group with time limitations.

Extended Field Trips
Our full day field trips involve a visit to the Biomes center paired with a visit to one of two other nearby sites.
Biomes/Tidepooling
For Grades 1 - 12
Includes a visit to Biomes and a visit to Fort Getty (10 minutes away) for tidepooling, beach combing, and beach seining (conditions permitting).
$14/student, $7.00/adult
Biomes/Smith’s Castle
Biomes/Gilbert Stuart
For PreK - 8
These two options include
A visit to Biomes and a visit to 300 year old Smith’s Castle where students will learn about Roger Williams, Narragansett Indians, and more.
-OR-
A visit to Biomes and a visit to the Gilbert Stuart museum where students can learn about this 18th century portrait painter who painted George Washington’s famous portrait. They will also see and learn about his historic birthplace, home to the first snuff mill in America.

•Large groups of 50-100 students may divide in half, each spending time at one
site in the morning, and the other site after lunch.
•Smaller groups of 15-50 students, may stay together visiting one site in the
morning and the other after lunch.
•Lunches may be eaten under the Pavilion in Fort Getty, or at Smith’s Castle.
•Available in the fall and the spring.
•Transportation between sites must be provided by school.
